分析を続けてきた京都大学防災研究所の西村卓也教授は、この“流体”による地震活動が今回の大地震の引き金となった可能性があるとしたうえで、今後、さらに広い範囲の地震活動に影響を及ぼさないか注意が必要だとしています。

○冬季に積雪が多いと、地震時に住宅にかかる負担が大きくなることから、住宅等の屋根の積雪状況についても留意をお願いします。また、雪崩にも留意をお願いします。

また専門家が分析した結果、液状化現象による被害は、風によって運ばれた砂からなる「砂丘」でも発生し、特に被害が大きかった場所が日本海に面した側ではなく、陸側に集中していたこともわかりました。
